Rainy Garay grew up around music — her father, Charles Smith, was a founding guitarist of Kool & The Gang, and she spent childhood evenings recording with him in his home studio. "I remember as young as five years old, watching my father record guitar licks on a portable reel-to-reel," she said. "He would ask me to sing to something that he wrote or was working on, and I would just make something up."
"One Precious Moment" arrived in 2008, produced by Grammy winner John Seymour (Santana, Dave Matthews, U2). The title track is dedicated to both her heavenly and earthly fathers. Rainy continues to perform in churches around the country with her husband and guitarist, J.C.
