Rainy's 2008 album for Hallel Music: twelve songs, every one written by Rainy herself. Streaming everywhere, and available for sync licensing.
Before Hallel Music was a catalog of 130+ songs, it was a handful of artists who believed in the mission. Rainy was one of the first.
Music runs in her blood: she is the daughter of Charles Smith, co-founder and lead guitarist of Kool & the Gang, the band behind "Jungle Boogie," "Hollywood Swinging," and "Celebration." Charles passed in 2006, a year before Rainy signed with Hallel Music, and was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2024.
She dedicated this album to him: "To my beloved dad I call father."
Twelve tracks, every one written by Rainy herself. No co-writes, no filler. A full statement of faith from an artist carrying a legendary musical lineage into gospel and Christian music.
This record was built by top-tier hands. Executive-produced by Hallel Music founder Robert Vernon, and produced, engineered, and mixed by John Seymour, a Grammy-winning engineer whose credits include Santana's Supernatural. "More Lord" was mixed by Ron Saint Germain, whose four-decade career spans U2, Mick Jagger, Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson, with 14 Grammy-winning records to his name. The album was mastered by four-time Grammy winner Joe Palmaccio at The Place For Mastering in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Recorded at the Treefort in Hoboken, New Jersey, with piano, Hammond organ, and horns cut at Studio M.P.I. The sessions featured jazz horn players Ian Hendrickson-Smith and Abraham Burton alongside a full string section.
"One Precious Moment" is available for sync licensing. New sync uses proceed with Rainy's prior written approval, per her original Hallel Music agreement, so please allow time for that step. See how sync licensing works.
